The Islamic republic executed more than 900 Iranians in 2015.

Amnesty International: “The reality in Iran is that people are being ruthlessly sentenced to death after unfair trials, and this is unacceptable.”

“The virtual killing sprees we saw in countries like Iran and Iraq were shameful,” said Salil Shetty, Amnesty International’s Secretary General.

Human Rights Watch: “Iran’s abysmal record on press freedom and this spate of arrests raises a red flag.”

The Islamic republic has imprisoned more than 65 Iranian journalists.

The Islamic republic has brutally violated the human rights of the Iranian people, and there are thousands of political prisoners. The regime has tortured and executed thousands of Iranians.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the U.N. special investigator on human rights in Iran, Ahmed Shaheed, have expressed concern about the frequency and gravity of abuses in Iran.

“The Secretary-General remains deeply troubled by reports of increasing numbers of executions, including of juvenile offenders and in public; continuing amputations and flogging; arbitrary arrest and detention; unfair trials, torture and ill-treatment; and severe restrictions targeting media professionals, human rights defenders, lawyers and opposition activities, as well as religious minorities,” Ban Ki-moon reported.

The Islamic republic tortured and killed blogger Sattar Beheshti in prison. Ahmed Shaheed said: “An informed source communicated that Mr. Beheshti was tortured for the purpose of retrieving his Facebook user name and password, that he was repeatedly threatened with death during his interrogation and that he was beaten in the face and torso with a baton.”

According to Ahmed Shaheed, the Islamic republic executed at least 40 Iranians in the first two weeks of January 2014. The Islamic republic executed 625 Iranians in 2013, including at least 28 women.

“The persistent execution of individuals for exercising their rights to freedom of assembly, association, and affiliation to minority groups contravenes universally accepted human rights principles and norms,” Mr. Shaheed said.

On April 17, 2014, Islamic republic’s thugs attacked political prisoners in Evin prison in Tehran, and they seriously injured hundreds of prisoners. Some of the prisoners suffered broken ribs, and others suffered heart attacks. Some prisoners were taken to solitary confinement, including lawyers and labour rights activists. All those transferred to solitary confinement were beaten with batons during the transfer.

On May 15, 2014, Amnesty International published the report, “Justice is an Alien Word: ill treatment of political prisoners in Evin Prison,” and documented that political prisoners were subjected to assault, beatings and other ill-treatment.
